Land Rover Discovery Sport close-ups

Quick and dirty graphic using the preview shots from the new Land Rover website and the preview shots of the camouflaged Discovery Sport released today.  We get a quick view of the side vent trim and see it again in the camouflage graphic.  Then towards the bottom we see the Evoque-ative headlamps that are now becoming a Land Rover trademark.

Latest Land Rover Discovery Sport pictures leave little to the imagination and confirm a third row

Land Rover Discovery Sport in Camouflage (2)

Wow, third row option for the Discovery Sport, can’t wait to see it without the camo.  I’m most interested in seeing what the interior will look like.  The spy shots have give some little glimpses but we need more.

We know now the Jaguar XE will be getting 75mpg with the new Ingenium engine.  The prototype shown here is plated as a 2.2L so it appears they didn’t put an Ingenium in that one yet.  And of course it’ll be a lot heavier than the XE but should still help with fuel economy when it arrives.

Official PR:

  • Ahead of its official reveal, Land Rover uncovers innovative camouflaged Discovery Sport

  • New compact SUV remains true to Discovery family with option of a third row of rear seats

  • Latest camouflage wrap gives clearest view yet of vehicle’s design

  • Prototype vehicles leave Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood plant to embark on final testing stages

Land Rover has dropped the biggest hint yet towards the design of Discovery Sport, with the debut of a new camouflage wrap confirming that the new compact SUV will be available with 5+2 seating.

As if ‘peeling back’ the outer layer of the vehicle, the camouflage reveals that the Discovery Sport will in fact have the option of two seats in the third row, enhancing its versatility and appeal as a compact, family SUV.

Prototype cars sporting the new camouflage design left Halewood, UK, where the Discovery Sport will be manufactured, to embark on final testing and development activity across several continents.

"As you would expect from a Discovery, the versatile Discovery Sport will feature optional 5+2 seating, offering spacious load space and configurable seating, while still retaining a more compact footprint than traditional 5-seat SUVs," said Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover.

Discovery Sport will go on sale alongside the existing Discovery in 2015.

2015 Land Rover LR4 / Discovery brings more luxury & InControl – is this the last split branded Land Rover?

Whenever a vehicle generation is getting to the end it’s life there always seem to be a flourish of upgrades and additions that we hadn’t seen before.  It’s sad to see it go but the person buying this new year model should be very happy.

While this probably isn’t the last LR4, we’re going to be at the point soon where there won’t be any split branding between the US and the rest of the world, I for one can’t wait!
