Whitley, UK: Jaguar Land Rover is creating cutting-edge technologies to develop new ways to give drivers higher quality, life-like graphics and information that will offer an enhanced ‘virtual’ view of the road or race track.

The ‘Jaguar Virtual Windscreen’ concept uses the entire windscreen as a display so the driver’s eyes need never leave the road.  High quality hazard, speed and navigation icons could all be projected onto the screen together. For performance drivers, imagery that could aid track driving includes:

  • Racing line and braking guidance. Virtual racing lines on the windscreen appear to be marked on the track ahead for optimum racing line, with changes in colour to indicate braking guidance.
  • Ghost car racing. Improve your lap times by racing a ‘ghost car’ visualisation of your car on a previous lap, or compete against a lap uploaded from another driver.
  • Virtual cones can be laid out on the track ahead for driver training. These could be moved as the driver’s ability improves.

Minor updates for MY2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport

Various sources indicated to me that the MY2015 wouldn’t bring too many changes and now I know which of my sources to really believe – even had the new silver color in a tip.

Here’s the official PR, not much but I definitely could have used the Intelligent Cargo Mode on the 4th of July.  And the fixed panoramic roof is great, it would make for a tough decision – go for full glass without the crossbeam or keep the crossbeam and the ability to open the roof up.

The fastest and most powerful ever production Land Rover will make its public debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (27 to 29 June). The Range Rover Sport SVR will be the first model to wear the new SVR designation, which will be worn by all future high performance models.

A camouflaged prototype of the 550PS Range Rover Sport SVR will take a break from its demanding development schedule to give spectators a chance to experience the sights and sounds of the most exhilarating Land Rover ever produced. It will perform a series of runs up the famous Goodwood Hill course in the ‘First Glance’ category.

The SVR is currently undergoing development prior to going on sale in 2015. Details of the vehicle’s 550PS powertrain are still under wraps, but crowds can expect a thrilling soundtrack to match its impressive pace. Performance data for the SVR will extend the Range Rover Sport’s established capabilities as the fastest, most agile and most responsive Land Rover ever built.

The Range Rover Sport SVR has been created by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team and all future SVR models will need to meet stringent key performance criteria in order to wear the SVR badge. They will be built alongside existing models and sold through the Land Rover dealer network in the usual way.

2015 Land Rover LR4 / Discovery brings more luxury & InControl – is this the last split branded Land Rover?

Whenever a vehicle generation is getting to the end it’s life there always seem to be a flourish of upgrades and additions that we hadn’t seen before.  It’s sad to see it go but the person buying this new year model should be very happy.

While this probably isn’t the last LR4, we’re going to be at the point soon where there won’t be any split branding between the US and the rest of the world, I for one can’t wait!

Striking Land Rover Features Bring Heightened Level Of Interior Luxury To The Discovery

Land Rover continues to celebrate 25 years of Discovery with the option for customers to add striking features from the XXV Special Edition anniversary model revealed earlier this year.  In-car technologies also receive a boost with the introduction of Land Rover InControl Apps into a number of key markets, whilst the 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged petrol engine maintains its promise to deliver fuel efficiency benefits.

These enhancements are available to order on the Discovery now with customer deliveries starting from September.
