This will be a $1750 option for the 2023 model year, all variants.

The powered doors electrically open or close according to a choice of user inputs. An audible warning sounds if an obstruction is detected in the door aperture or hinge area, or an obstruction is detected by the door motor.

OPENING FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE:

While stationary and unlocked, the door handle is in position 1. Partially pull the exterior door handle to position 2, then release. The powered door opens. Pulling the door handle to its full extent (3) manually opens the door.

All-New Range Rover: Approach Unlocking & Walk-away Locking

Range Rover 22MY | Walk Away Lock/Unlock (WALAU)

*Functionalities are approximate (circa 2023)

UPDATE 2 – Nov 2023 – Latest update still has it off for MY22 & MY23 but MY24 is live and working

SSM75929 – Approach unlocking, keyless entry and unlocking with the smart key inoperative

Model / Model Year / Derivative
Range Rover / 22-23MY ONLY / ALL
Range Rover Sport / 23MY ONLY / ALL

Situation:
Following a Car Configuration File (CCF) update the customer reports that ‘Approach Unlock’ and ‘Walk Away Lock’ features are not operating and not displayed on the Pivi Pro menu.

Cause:
JLR vehicle specification update.

Action:
Follow the instruction(s) below.

Service Information:
JLR is currently enhancing these features for a future rollout.
Direct the customer to the online handbook for information on features installed to their vehicle and inform them that JLR will contact them when the feature is ready to be activated.

NOTE:
24MY Vehicles are not affected by this concern. Do not modifiy the CCFs for this concern, the vehicles are operating as  intended.

UPDATE – Due to on-going technical issues, this feature has been disabled on all new vehicles.  Older vehicles might see it turned off on their next service.  JLR has advised disabling this since July 2022.  As of May 2023, they are still stating a fix will be provided Q2 2023.

SSM75742 – Approach unlocking, keyless entry and unlocking with the smart key inoperative

Issue:
JLR is investigating customers reporting being unable to unlock their vehicles using approach unlocking or keyless entry as the smart key appears inoperative. Once access has been achieved through using the emergency key blade  access process, the vehicle will not start as the smart key is not recognized but the engine can be started using the Immobilizer Antenna Unit (IAU).

Cause:
Software instability

Walk–away Locking:
The walk-away locking procedure initiates when a door is opened or closed. The vehicle locks when a smart key immediately adjacent to the outside of the opened door or within the vehicle moves beyond 2 m (78 in). Without driver intervention, the vehicle centrally locks and the alarm sensors activate once walk-away locking is complete. Walk-away locking also tracks any keys inside the vehicle to make sure they are seen externally before locking. Walk-away locking can be enabled or disabled via the Vehicle menu of System Settings

Approach Unlocking:
Approach unlocking automatically unlocks the doors on the approached side of the vehicle when the smart key is detected within 1.5 m (59 in) of the vehicle. The doors automatically unlock and door handles deploy on the approached side. Pulling either deployed handle will complete the unlocking and alarm disarming procedure. The unlocking and alarm disarm procedure is indicated by the side mirrors unfolding and direction indicators flashing the unlock flash sequence.

If the vehicle is set to single point entry and only the driver’s door is opened, the vehicle will not unlock the passenger doors on the non-approached side. When the smart key is brought inside the vehicle, the rear driver’s side door will re-lock and its exterior door handle will retract.

If the smart key is taken beyond 1.5m (59 in) of the side of the vehicle without pulling either handle, both doors will re-lock and their handles will retract. The vehicle reverts to its previous locked and alarmed state.

If the smart key is inside the 1.5m (59 in) boundary for more than 40 seconds without a door handle being opened, the approach unlocking feature disables. Both doors will re-lock and their handles will retract. The vehicle reverts to its previous locked and alarmed state.

Approach unlocking can be enabled or disabled via the Vehicle menu of System Settings.

A new location for the all-new Range Rover Smart Key Engine Start Backup

On previous models when there were issues between the smart key and the Range Rover, there was a location on the steering column where you could touch your key and often bypass the issues. Low smart key battery was a common cause.

For the all-new Range Rover that location has moved to the center console, in the cubby aft of the gearshift controls.
