    Here’s a shot of the main radio function screen, it gives us an idea of how it’s layed out with the stored stations and other function keys:

    This is one of the features I am looking forward to.  On the reverse screen they do talk about the virtual lines that appear to help you guage your location – I’ve seen this in US Spec manuals for models prior to 2010, but I don’t believe Land Rover ever turned it on – let’s hope it’s really coming this time.

    Anyway, here’s the real stuff:

    360view

    The surround camera system provides a view of the area surrounding the vehicle using five discretely placed cameras, to assist in manoeuvring the vehicle. With the ignition on and either Park or Neutral
    selected, the screen will display images of the area immediately surrounding the vehicle to assist in manoeuvring the vehicle.

    Automatic operation
    When Drive or Reverse are selected the relevant camera view will be selected for the direction of movement. Once the vehicle speed exceeds 18 km/h (11 mph) the camera screen will disappear.
    Note: The camera view will be disabled for the rest of that ignition cycle. To use the camera view again it will need to be selected manually.

    Manual operation
    The camera home page is accessed using the Cameras icon on the navigation home screen  The camera views can be selected whilst the vehicle is stationary with Park or Neutral selected. They can also be selected whilst the vehicle speed is below 18 km/h (11 mph).

    Selecting views

    Displayed on the home page are real-time images from each of the five cameras fitted to the vehicle. Any two of the images can be selected and enlarged to view side-by-side on the screen, by highlighting the image then pressing the Enlarge icon. When viewing any two images, any single image can then be selected to view as a full screen image which can be zoomed into, and panned around using the magnifier and arrow icons.

    Manual proximity viewMPV

    Selecting proximity view from the camera home screen will display a combination of
    three images from the front and passenger side cameras. These views give the driver an
    enhanced view of the area forward and opposite the driver.

     Automatic proximity view

    Dependent on specification, the system may become active when the ignition is switched
    on. With the ignition switched on and either Park or Neutral selected, the touch screen will
    display images of the area immediately surrounding the vehicle. When Drive or Reverse are selected, the
    relevant camera view will be selected for the direction of travel. Once the vehicle speed exceeds 18 km/h (11 mph) or the return icon is pressed, the camera screen will disappear.

    Note: The Proximity View will be disabled for the rest of that ignition cycle. to use the screen
    again, press the Proximity View on the Cameras home page.

    Special Views

    specviews

    A selection of pre-set views can be displayed by selecting Special Views. These have been
    provided to assist with difficult manoeuvres. These are:
    – Kerb view, shows views from the two front cameras;
    – Junction view, shows views from the two side cameras;
    – Trailer view, shows the rear camera view;

    Reversing
    reversing

    When Reverse is selected, the touch screen automatically displays the view from the rear of
    the vehicle. Overlaid on the rear view image are coloured lines representing the perimeter of the vehicle,
    the predicted path of the vehicle (based on the position of the steering wheel) and the distance information from the Parking Aid system.

    Here’s the first post I’m doing from the 2010 Range Rover Owner’s Manual thanks to one20 over at the rangerovers.net forums.    The first piece of technology is the new Blind Spot Monitor which basically does just what it’s name says, here’s the technical description & graphics:

    BSMGraphic2The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) system monitors a zone that covers the area adjacent to the vehicle, that is not easily visible by the driver and is designed to identify any object overtaking the vehicle. The system uses a radar on each side of the vehicle to identify any overtaking vehicle/object within the blind spot area of the vehicle, while disregarding other objects which may be stationary or travelling in the opposite direction, etc.  The radar monitors the area extending from the exterior mirror rearwards, to approximately 7 metres (23 feet) behind the rear wheels, and up to 2.5 metres (8.2 feet) from the side of the vehicle (the width of a typical carriageway lane).

    Note: The system covers an area of a fixed lane width. If the lanes are narrower than a typical carriageway lane, objects travelling in non-adjacent lanes may be detected. BSM automatically switches BSMGraphicon and becomes active when the vehicle is travelling at greater than 16 km/h (10 mph) in a forward drive gear. When the system initiates, it performs a self-check, during which the warning icons in the mirrors illuminate alternately for a short period of time.

    BSM is designed to work most effectively when driving on multi-lane highways.  If an object is identified by the system as being an overtaking vehicle/object, an amber warning icon (1) illuminates in the relevant exterior mirror, to alert the driver that there is a potential hazard in the vehicle’s blind spot and therefore, that a lane change might be dangerous.

    2010 Land Rover LR4 / Discovery 4 Interior Montage

    The new LR4 interior video – they really did an amazing job when you capare it to the current model, less gray plastic, more soft touch surfaces – but that is a lot of soft touch beige horizontally.

    2010 Range Rover Sport – Interior montage video

    Here’s another offical video, this one being the 2010 Range Rover Sport Interior montage.

    Such a huge improvement – they really did a great job. My only issue is with that rediculously tall gear shift surround – did it really need to be that high?
