The middlemen always come through – Range Rover Velar interior before March 1 reveal

Hidden in plain sight since February 9:

I wonder if these glossy new steering wheel controls are touch sensitive with haptics?

Spy shots of next Land Rover Discovery show interior parts borrowed from Range Rover

Not sure how much of this is just pre-production sharing but the Land Rover badge on the Rotary shifter/Terrain Response module looks like it might be the real thing.  We’ll have to wait and see if the Range Rover steering wheel makes it over as well.

Image originally from:

That looks to be identical in layout to the current Range Rover with some changes including that Land Rover badge where Range Rover usually goes.  And the new Terrain Response controls – It appears they’ve removed the rotary control for Terrain Response and replaced it with left and right buttons – similar to how it functions in the current models – Range Rover & Range Rover Sport get rotary control while the Evoque and Land Rovers get the right/left controls.

Another thing to note is the number of Terrain Response options shown there – is it only four or is there another one at the 9 o’clock position?  Is Rock Crawl missing from this car?

Is this what InControl Touch Pro would look like on the current 8” Range Rover screens?

After seeing the latest Jaguar XJ refresh, is it possible that the Range Rover may only get the 8” InControl Touch Pro instead of the ultra widescreen 10.2” version we first saw in the XF

Here’s my mock-up of the 8” screen and the updated (and hopefully useful) gauge cluster.

I did something similar a few months back showing what the 10.2” XF screen would look like in the Range Rover.

Now we’ll just have to wait and see.

Guessing further – is this what the next big Range Rover interior refresh is going to look like?

From the new Jaguar XF Press Release:

Infotainment and connectivity is the most advanced Jaguar has ever offered. The all-new InControl Touch Pro system features a 10.2-inch touchscreen and Dual View technology which simultaneously allows the driver to see information such as navigation, while the front seat passenger watches TV or a DVD.

To handle the enormous amounts of data, InControl Touch Pro features a solid-state drive and a quad-core processor, and runs on state-of-the-art, ultra-fast Ethernet – a next-generation network offering exceptional data transfer rates. Combined, they deliver incredible graphics, fast response times and truly exceptional performance.
