International Land Rover site shows Apple CarPlay Option Pack for new Discovery

With a tip from a reader earlier today we saw the Smartphone Pack option available to add to the build of a new Discovery.  At first I didn’t see it on the USA or UK site but when accessing through the Land Rover International home page, which often does have things you don’t normally see, we find the new option pack that adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Both are described as such and yes even the Android Auto screen says “Simply connect your iPhone”:

A simple and intuitive interface. Designed to minimise distraction so that you can stay focused on the road. Simply connect your iPhone via USB and control compatible apps on the in-car Touchscreen.

Jaguar Land Rover has been on the CarPlay list since its inception but never shipped in a vehicle.  We even found Apple CarPlay icons in an early InControl Touch Pro build.

Does this mean it’s really coming this time?

August 2017 software updates bring these enhancements to the 2017 Range Rover and others

JLR-Pathfinder30

PATHFINDER Software Release – 0030, dated 8/2017

Applies to:
17MY Range Rover / L405
17MY Range Rover Sport / L494
17MY Discovery / L462
18MY Range Rover Velar / L560

This update includes the following enhancements to InControl Touch Pro:

Improvements to the system. This is to address concerns relating to the touch screen being blank following a vehicle restart after an immediate shutdown.

Improvements to the camera system. This is to resolve concerns relating to the message ‘Camera system not available, consult your Dealer’ displaying when reverse gear is selected.

Improvements to Bluetooth phone call handling. This is to address concerns relating to Bluetooth audio sound not muting or lowering when receiving phone calls, and the navigation guidance overriding the phone call audio.

Improvements to voice commands. This is to address concerns relating to the feedback accent not being heard when using voice commands, and the selection of phone categories when using voice commands in Spanish.

Improvements to the navigation system. This is to address concerns relating to the navigation guidance continuing after reaching the destination, and the navigation system forgetting the destination and returning to the default screen. This will also address concerns where the navigation icon is displayed but not usable (Japanese vehicles only).

Improvements to media handling. This is to resolve concerns relating to the user being unable to switch the audio source, and the tune scan displaying indefinitely (SDARS only).

Land Rover iGuide, great interactive and informative owners manual for the new Discovery

Got tweeted about it this morning(Thank you Peter!) and checked it out immediately.  While just for the All-New Discovery now, it will be great to see how it expands across the "Range".

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/land-rover-iguide/id1183433754?mt=8

Really informational and functional, using both the standard text/images and augmented reality to help advise.  Great use of FAQs too.

20170204_165058000_iOS20170204_165118000_iOS20170204_165137000_iOS20170204_165158000_iOS20170204_165144000_iOS20170204_165151000_iOS

But as with most Land Rover stuff, little proofing/inconsistency when it comes to the text.  And they must not care because they rarely fix it.  The capitalization is all over the place when abbreviating their own features.  When they pull the content directly from the online manual it’s fine, when it’s used elsewhere it’s not.
