2014 Range Rover Sport – I like it #NewRangeRoverSport

As always I try not to cover the things that everyone else does, so my comments here are just my own bullet points.

Having had a couple days to study the pics, I really do like the new Range Rover Sport.  It’s worlds beyond what they gave us when they released the Range Rover Sport Classic back in 2005.  I think this one deserves the name more than its predecessor.  While the Range Rover Sport Classic was really just a RR body on an LR3, this new Range Rover Sport is just a smaller Range Rover in design and execution.  It gets all the advances that the 2013 Range Rover brought and uses them for an even more sporting feel.

A quick look at the interior would make the casual user think it’s the real Range Rover.  It doesn’t appear to have any of the compromises that the Range Rover Sport Classic had.

My biggest complaint is with the rear, it’s just to Evoque-ish for me.  Too rounded, too toy-like.

2012 Range Rover Sport–Latest exterior images #rangeroversport

Here are the official shots of the refreshed Range Rover Sport for 2012.  I think they did a great job on the new tailgate.  I absolutely love that “Range Rover” is now “above the fold” and “Sport” stands alone on the left side – it never felt right with “Range Rover” at the bottom.

And here’s a great video review of the 2012 Range Rover Sport:

2012 Range Rover Sport Brochure–we finally see the new rear design… #rangerover

Trying to see the new rear design of the 2012 Range Rover Sport has been like pulling teeth.  No official shots that I’ve been able to find and even going through this brochure, there’s not one full shot of the new design which now has some added horizontal trim.  We didn’t know how the new powered tailgate would affect the look, and we’re still not completely sure, ha!

Here is the 2012 shot below and below that, I’m including the exact same shot from the 2011 brochure, got to love that Photoshop.  I’m not sure where they moved the button to, I’m assuming it’s probably above the license plate like on a real Range Rover, we’ll see.  Or was that button only for opening the glass section?  Also, the Sport badge has moved to the opposite side.

I like it!!

Here’s another shot with the new key and interior controls for the new power tailgate.  Not sure how much you can believe the picture because again it’s just a manipulated shot from last years brochure.

Finally, here’s another shot of the 8” RSE screen, just like in the Discovery 4.2012-rrs-rse

And here’s the brochure:
