I just have to add in one of my rants here – what’s the deal with the branding? It seems they’ve been on a mission to separate Land Rover & Range Rover. In print, signage & web presence, we usually see these logos side by side; and their own official media site, actually separates the content by brand.
As seen in the latest 2011 Range Rover advertisements which while still using the landroverusa.com web address, have no Land Rover badge or mention.
It just seems they want to get the two brands so far apart but then this Evoque ad comes out and confuses us more. Was it just an oversight? And if they are going to separate the brands, they better start talking to the car magazines which still reference the Evoque as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, which has always been a Range Rover issue…
Thank you.
So Land Rover UK has created their OneLife magazine as a free new app on the iPad:
They always like to add in a lot of “lifestyle” content to these things and nothing is different here with an article on Bhutan with “Range Rover” references sprinkled throughout. And there’s also one about a father and son team in the Freelander 2, here’s their video (it’s also available in the app itself):
But along with those articles, we usually do get some real info that doesn’t always show up in other places. We hear from Ratan Tata, current JLR owner with some good insight. And from the actual designers & engineers on the Evoque team. It was there that we learn from the Chief Program Engineer, David Mitchell that:
So overall, they did a really great job on this issue and I recommend you check it out.
Here’s a link to it again:

I’ve got a little more to say about it, but will follow-up in another post since it’s a different topic.
I’m trying to put together all the official launch videos for the Evoque, up to 11 in the playlist embedded below. You can click on the Playlist button just to the right of the Play button to see them all listed. If anyone knows of others, please let me know.
And here are the interiors from a Dynamic model – I do think the Pimento leather is more at home in the Evoque then in a Range Rover.
And here’s the North American version, slight differences when compared to the UK, but the misspelling of “perforrmance” is unique to us, you’ll see it highlighted below. Funny thing about the misspell, no one appears to have caught it. All the various sites posted copies of the Land Rover NA supplied text that contained the error. If you actually do a Google search for “Evoque perforrmance” and force it to use the misspell in the results, you can see everyone just posted what they got. Which is fine, I just find it funny that Land Rover still hasn’t turned on spell check, especially for the document that describes their “groundbreaking all-new Range Rover Evoque “
Update: I contacted them in October and told them about the error, they’ve since fixed it, but they never thank me for finding all their mistakes. And my standard disclaimer with this type of rant, I’m sure I’ve misspelled words on this site and made glaring mistakes but I’m not a multi-billion, multi-national company, I just have Microsoft Word.

More photos of the 4-door Range Rover Evoque and some real interior shots – although not much to see, they’re still using the Jaguar steering wheel for testing, I wonder if that will show up in production or if they’ll go with the standard Land Rover steering wheel. Also of note, and I’m not sure if it’s just a trick of the eye, but it looks like there is just one big dial for the gauge cluster – maybe they’ll go full LCD for that?
From the Land Rover UK Flickr account – the worldly camouflaged Evoques:
UPDATE: IT”S LIVE NOW
As seen on the Interactive Land Rover site, it looks like there will be a domain devoted to the new Range Rover Evoque – just doesn’t seem to be working yet. Although it does have a cool “R” favicon.
It was registered on May 22 through godaddy and looks to still be hosted there, it was registered by an individual with a residential address in the UK. I wonder what other Land Rover domains are hiding out there?
And Google did index it at some point in the last couple hours, but it’s not cached:
